CHICHARITO: BAYER LEVERKUSEN CAREER IN FOCUS

Mexican striker Javier Hernandez also known as Chicharito was sent on loan to Real Madrid as a Manchester United player before he signed for Bayer Leverkusen permanently. Chicharitojoined Real Madrid on loan from Manchester United at the start of the 2014/15 season. He returned to Manchester United in the summer of 2015.

Chicharito left Manchester United for Bayer Leverkusen on a permanent deal towards the end of the summer transfer window in 2015 in a £7.3m deal. The attacker signed a three-year contract when he joined Leverkusen. He made his Leverkusen debut thirteen minutes into the second half of the defeat to Darmstadt 98 in the league. Chicharito could not do much to prevent a 1-0 defeat to Darmstadt 98 on his debut for the German club.

Four days after his Leverkusen debut, Chicharito scored his first goal for the club in the Champions League. He scored the third Leverkusen goal in a 4-1 victory over BATE Borisov of Belarus in the Champions League group stage. His first goal in the German Bundesliga came during the 1-0 win over FSV Mainz. In addition to being the recipient of the winning goal at the end of the Mainz game, Chicharito was also named the best player.

Chicharito scored his first brace for Leverkusen during the 4-4 draw with Italian side AS Roma in the Champions League. He scored five goals in six Champions League group stage games during his first season at Bayer Leverkusen, but it was not enough as the German Bundesliga giants dropped out of the Champions League and into the Europa League after finishing third in their group.

In total, Javier Hernandez spent two years at Leverkusen before he returned to the Premier League to sign for West Ham United for an undisclosed fee believed to be around £16m.
