MEXICO SEND RUSSIA PACKING

Russia did all they could in Kazan against Mexico but their best was not enough as the hosts were eliminated from the Confederations Cup after losing 2-1 to the visitors.

They needed at least a win to move to the semifinals, which saw them giving their best and taking the lead with a goal by Alexander Samedov in the first half.

However, the tactical Mexico side equalized with Néstor Araujo in the same first half and got the leading goal early in the second half through Hirving Lozano following the mistake from the Russia goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev.

Russia got many opportunities in the match, but poor finishing did not see them utilize it.

Several players missed clear opportunities throughout the match played in front of 41,585 people at Kazan Arena. The host players gathered in the middle of the pitch to hail the fans after the final whistle was blown as the crowd continued to applaud them.

The first goal of the match came in the 25th minute after the striker Fedor Smolov struck reached the goalkeeper with a rocketed shot and Yury Zhirkov had his shot saved by Guillermo Ochoa. Continue reading MEXICO SEND RUSSIA PACKING

LUKE SHAW GETS READY FOR DERBY

Manchester United player Luke Shaw is expected to feature in the derby against Manchester City.

The derby is the star game of the weekend as players return from the international break. Man United and City have nine points apiece after winning their first three games, so the game would decide who goes top or if they would allow Chelsea – who also have nine points – go top.

Shaw wasn’t in action for the Three Lions under Coach Sam Allardyce when they played Slovakia in a World Cup qualifier. He missed out in training on Saturday, but is currently fighting fitness concerns to be able to feature against City, reports say.

Last term, the player picked up a double leg-break in September. The injury ensured he missed many games, but he is hoping to make up this term. England coach Allardyce said of his injury: “It’s a slight problem with the leg. A little ache – muscular. With what he’s been through, we didn’t want to take a chance where the break was.”

JUVENTUS INSIST ON CHICHARITO AND KANTE

Juventus are reportedly still keen on landing the duo of former Red Devils forward Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez and Leicester City’s N’Golo Kante this summer.

The Bianconeri could have lesser talents this coming season and have decided to place the Leicester City player on the priority list for this summer.

The Frenchman was impressive in the midfield as Leicester City in the last campaign and was pivotal to their stunning English Premier League glory.

According to Tuttosport, Juventus also have Chicharito and Lucas Hernandez in its summer wishlist. Kante is one of the most wanted midfielders in Europe right now after his stunning display in the past season. Spanish giant Real Madrid are keen on the King Power Stadium player as they see him as a more affordable option when compared with Paul Pogba, who Juventus want to sell for a record breaking fee. Madrid would likely trade James Rodriguez if they are to make space for the arrival of Paul Pogba, since the player has enjoyed a reduced playing time since Coach Zinedine Zidane took over. But Madrid is reported to be more inclined in landing Kante at a way reduced transfer price with less weekly wages commitment.

LEVERKUSEN COACH HEAPS PRAISES ON STAR PLAYER CHICHARITO

Head Coach of German side, Bayer 04 Leverkusen, Roger Schmidt heaped praise on Mexican star striker, Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez, citing his intelligence and nose for goal as two of his principal qualities.

The German club hosted Hertha Berlin on Match day 32 over the weekend and were able to cement their place in third and the accompanying automatic berth in next season’s UEFA Champions League group stage.

Schmidt gave an interview where he said:

“’Chicharito’ is very important to the team because he’s a player with extraordinary ability.

“As an attacker he’s very intelligent at getting into position, creating space and freeing up room for his team-mates, but is also always available to receive the ball. On top of that, he has a knack for finding the most dangerous position to score a goal,” he added in the interview with the club’s in-house television station.

Schmidt, who saw the Mexico international score the winner over FC Schalke 04 added:

“He works really hard for the team, as he showed on Saturday, fighting until the end when we took a 3-2 lead. He’s also a great support defensively. There’s an aspect to our play, both defensively and offensively and ‘Chicharito’ does this very well. You could see this in that third goal he scored on Saturday after an 80-metre sprint.” Continue reading LEVERKUSEN COACH HEAPS PRAISES ON STAR PLAYER CHICHARITO

Chicharito continues good form with Bayer Leverkusen

After having scored with Mexico during the international break, Chicharito continues his good form by scoring for his club Bayer Leverkusen in a game against Wolfsburg on Friday.

With his side playing at home and leading by one goal, Chicharito scored a magnificent goal from outside the box. Just outside the box, Karim Bellarabi found Chicharito, who did not miss the target with a sweet curling shot. He was only a substitute that entered on the pitch at the 61st minute.

It was the 15th league goal for Chicharito, but he has not been scoring for the last 6 games for Bayer Leverkusen. It seems that the international break has had some great benefits for him.

Chicharito also played a part in the third goal. He assisted VladenYurchenko with a sublime pass to help his team win the match. This result put Bayer Leverkusen back into contention for a Champions League place.

The first goal was scored by Julian Brandt, who after a quick one-two with HakanCalhanoglu found himself inside the box. He could not miss from this range and Bayer Leverkusen found themselves leading 1-0. Continue reading Chicharito continues good form with Bayer Leverkusen

Javier Hernandez loan deal with Real Madrid ends this Season

Javier Hernandez has a loan deal with Real Madrid which lasts until the end of the season and the Mexican forward is expected to make his return to the Premier League side Manchester United but it might not happen as West Ham United is reportedly interested in signing Hernandez during the summer transfer window.

When Carlo Ancelotti decided to sign Javier Hernandez on September of 2014, the Italian manager only wanted to sign a forward who could serve as a backup option. The Mexican attacker was never expected to turn into a regular starter for Ancelotti as he already has a plethora of attacking options at his disposal which includes players such as: C.Ronaldo, James Rodriguez, Gareth Bale, KarimBenzema, Isco and Jese.

Hernandez is constantly being under heavy fire with continuous criticism due to his inability of landing a regular spot in Real Madrid but he was never expected to compete against some of the best players in the world.

This is a similar thing to what is occurring to him in Old Trafford as Hernandez struggles trying to turn into a consistent player and score goals regularly. With the likes of: Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie and RadamelFalcao, it becomes difficult for a player such as Javier Hernandez to find his spot in the center stage of Manchester United.
